Pollachi Nutmeg Farmer Producer Company Ltd

We are a community of over 100 dedicated nutmeg farmers hailing from the picturesque Pollachi region in Tamil Nadu! At the heart of our operations lies transparency and collective effort. Each of our farmers actively participates in the procurement process, ensuring that every step is open and accountable.

Nutmeg is a unique crop cultivated as an intercrop in coconut plantations covering approximately 235.7 hectares, with the involvement of around 175 farmers in our region. The nutmeg tree is distinct as it yields two valuable spices.

Our region benefits from a lower humidity climate and more staggered rainfall patterns, which are favorable conditions for drying nutmeg. This, in turn, results in a significantly lower incidence of fungal contamination and aflatoxin presence in our nutmeg compared to Kerala.

Moisture Content: The moisture content in nutmeg plays a crucial role in determining export suitability. International standards, including AB (10-12% moisture) and ABCD (10-15% moisture), and a possible lowering of the limit to 8%, are vital considerations. Our region excels in maintaining low moisture levels, with 95% of our farmers' stocks measuring between 8% and 8.5%, making our produce highly export-worthy.

Quality of Mace: The mace produced in our region is notably superior in terms of weight and aesthetic value compared to mace from other global producers, including Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Grenada, and Kerala.
